This January, AmericasMart launched the fourth season of one of our most popular programs, Shop the Show! For season four, we invited top lifestyle and design influencers Tiffani Thiessen, actress and author of the cookbook Pull Up a Chair, Brian Patrick Flynn, designer and HGTV host, Paloma Contreras of La Dolce Vita, Liz Marie Galvan of The Found Cottage, and social media star Katie Stauffer. Our five trendsetters were invited to scout the 8000+ brands at the Atlanta Market, seeking out the hottest upcoming trends of 2020 and beyond. This talented and visionary group gathered the best home decor, gift, tabletop and seasonal merchandise that AmericasMart has to offer, sharing their curated collections across their social channels -- and ours, of course! -- in real time as they explored Market. Each of our tastemakers hosted their own unique social event, including book signings, meet & greets, and even a fun cooking demo! Read on for a sneak peek behind the scenes of all of January’s #ShoptheShowATL events!
This market season kicked off with a can’t-miss event from each of our influencers, followed by an opportunity to mix & mingle afterwards. On Wednesday, January 15th, Liz Marie Galvan treated guests to a warm cookie & cocktail along with a meet & greet and book-signing of her first book, Cozy White Cottage: 100 Ways to Love the Feeling of Being Home. Liz shared complimentary copies of her book -- which is packed full of tips and tricks, budget-friendly hints, and project how-to’s -- with the first 50 lucky guests!
Also on Wednesday, in the Accent Decor showroom, Brian Patrick Flynn hosted an afternoon event called “How to Hygge” that was complete with soothing cocktails and moments that celebrate coziness, warmth and mindfulness. Pronounced "hoo-gah," this Danish expression is an attitude towards life that emphasizes finding joy in everyday moments. Brian lives the Nordic lifestyle each summer at his own pied-à-terre in Reykjavík, and often incorporates the Scandinavian aesthetic into his own warm and extremely personal design style. In front of a packed crowd, Brian demonstrated the concept of hygge with a beautiful, woodland-inspired tabletop vignette he designed with Accent Decor products. “Hygge,” says Brian, “is about the feeling & aesthetic of a home…. it’s about simplicity, organic materials, imperfection, and paring things back to only what matters.” From the trends of the early 2000s in which maximalism reigned with layers of pattern, color and texture, he explained, the design pendulum has swung toward the “less is more” approach embodied by hygge. Guests were absolutely captivated by Brian’s talk and the beautiful Accent Decor products that helped to illustrate it -- this was one of our most popular events by far!
On Thursday, January 16th, guests were invited to “Breakfast with Tiffani,” as our expert hostess Tiffani Thiessen showed guests how to create the perfect easy breezy brunch featuring her signature Egg & Sausage Casserole and a not-so-basic Bloody Mary (a tangier version that’s topped with sweet & crisp bacon, of course!). This popular actress and author captivated the crowd in the AmericasMart Demo Kitchen, many of whom grew up watching her on television and now know her as a warm, down-to-earth entertaining expert. Tiffani’s debut cookbook, Pull Up a Chair: Recipes From My Family to Yours, is made up of 125 delicious recipes and warm hospitality from this self-taught cook -- she didn’t attend culinary school and does not consider herself a “chef,” Tiffani explains -- many of which she loves to make with her children. After this tasty event, Tiffani was available to meet & greet and sign copies of Pull Up a Chair, with the first 150 guests in line receiving a complimentary copy. This was another huge success, with a massive line out the door!
On Thursday afternoon, Instagram-famous mom Katie Stauffer hosted “Pop, Shop & Sip: Cocktails at Corkcicle” -- just in time for happy hour! Katie styled her favorite Corkcicle products with her signature flair, and created some perfectly curated moments that had our guests (and of course, her four million Instagram followers!) absolutely swooning. We were treated to a double dose of darling as Kate mixed and mingled along with her adorable twins, Mila & Emma (you can’t miss these tiny stars on Youtube!), sharing her mom-approved picks for “making every day extraordinary.” Guests enjoyed a fun photo booth, a custom ice cream bar, a complimentary Corkcicle cup from their new line and of course, plenty of beverages to fill it up with including a delicious frosé! It was a delightful date with the Stauffer family for our market attendees, complete with light bites, plenty of laughter, and Corkcicle’s mantra of celebrating the surprising beauty in everyday moments.
Our Shop the Show events wrapped on Friday, January 17th with a sparkling toast to “the sweet life” by award-winning designer and blogger Paloma Contreras. Paloma hosted an event called “La Dolce Vita! A Toast of The Sweet Life” featuring prosecco and delicious light bites along with the opportunity to meet the designer (named one of ELLE DECOR‘s prestigious “A-List” top designers in the world and a “Next Wave” interior designer by House Beautiful). Paloma signed copies of her new book, Dream Design Live, which combines stunning photography and accessible-yet-elegant tips with interior decorating advice with lifestyle recommendations, demonstrating the ways in which living a happy and satisfying life starts at home. This talented tastemaker is accustomed to sharing “the sweet life” on a daily basis on her blog La Dolce Vita, and reaches a significant, loyal following of design enthusiasts who turn to her for the latest and greatest in design, fashion, and luxury travel. Her very well-attended book signing was a perfectly elegant way to close out this season’s Shop the Show events!
Many thanks to our talented influencers, to those who helped make this season special by attending in person, and to all those who followed along on social media! Every season, Shop the Show continues to grow and capture the imagination of both market-goers and the thousands following at home. As always, we’re already looking ahead to next market with even more exciting plans, but we wanted to take a moment to thank all those whose hard work and enthusiasm made this season such a success.
Watch this space in the coming weeks for some final thoughts and favorite market moments from our influencers in the coming weeks, but in the meantime, read on for the top product picks from each of our Shop the Show tastemakers!
