We’re looking ahead to an exciting, brand new season of Shop the Show at AmericasMart! We’ll be checking in with each of our talented influencers, including interior designer Jenny Komenda. Jenny is the founder of the popular blog "Little Green Notebook" (created in 2007), as well as the interior designer behind Juniper Home, a Phoenix-based interiors media and products company.
Jenny’s interior design work and products have been featured in publications ranging from "House Beautiful" and "HGTV" magazine to "Vogue" and the "Wall Street Journal." She is a contributing editor for "Domino" magazine, was named as a designer to watch by "Elle Decor" and was dubbed the reigning queen of accessible design by "Better Homes and Gardens."
We pulled back the curtain on this inspiring designer’s background, and got some fresh tips on what she’s scouting at market for 2019 and beyond. Read on for more from Jenny!
I have four daughters and a giant standard poodle named Linus.
I love to travel! Every year we make it a goal to go to at least two international destinations with our kids. This year we went to Sweden and Mexico. Next year will be China and Brazil.
I’m obsessed with food and love to cook. If I ever get sick of interiors (not likely!), my back up career would be in food!
It is hard to pick just one person, but I am really inspired by Jenna Lyons. Her style both in fashion and interiors are on another level for me. She is the ultimate cool girl.
Her celebrity dream client:
I am obsessed with Diane Keaton’s book, "The House That Pinterest Built." I think she would be an incredible collaborator on big budget project!
3 Must-Haves for next season & beyond:
I am all about patina and texture right now! At the top of my list are:
Unlacquered, living metals
3 Go-To Colors for next season & beyond:
Off-white is the new white.
Upcoming trends she’s scouting at market:
I’m looking forward to seeing more of the caned and rattan furniture trend at market. I especially like seeing it applied in less boho, more modern forms. I am really hoping there are more basket pendants!

Directions in Design 2020
Drawing inspiration and products from showrooms across ADAC and AmericasMart, Atlanta designers Tish Mills Kirk of Tish Mills Interiors, Katelyn Rountree of Terracotta Design Build, Chris Socci of C. Socci Inc., and Justin Q. Williams of TradeMark Design Co. have each crafted a virtual room that reflects their ideas about current directions in design. With health and wellness as an overarching theme, the designers are providing valuable insights into how we can all live better through a more thoughtful use of space, a focus on simple comforts, and by incorporating healthy products that enhance overall wellness. Follow their directions in design to transform your own space into an oasis and a personal sanctuary.
