What you can do now for a prosperous 2019 season

Prom season may have come and gone and the school year is coming to an end, but savvy social occasion retailers know the season is never truly over. Planning now ensures a productive and profitable prom season next year.

Be ready for Prom 2019 with these tips:

1. Take Inventory. What was hot and what was not? Knowing what you sold and what stayed on the hanger will help you be better set for next year. Tap into students on summer break if you need an extra set of hands.

2. Send Thank Yous. Staying in contact with your customers when they are not looking for a dress encourages them to come back to you when they are. Juniors will be on the hunt for their Senior gowns before you know it. Don't forget your girls who graduated. They have little sister and younger friends who will need gowns, and they might come back to you for sorority formals and other black tie events.

3. Update Your Social Media and Website. Now is the time to refresh. Is all of your contact information correct? Are you featuring all of your lines? After prom, when you're not so busy, is a great time to work on a website redesign or explore a new social media channel. By the time prom season rolls around again you will have worked out all of the bugs.

4. Plan Your Market Trip. The WORLD OF PROM Market is Tuesday August 07 - Saturday August 11, 2018. Start booking your travel and hotel now to take advantage of the best rates. You can also start to reach out to exhibitors to make your appointments. Visit for a Show Guide, Exhibitors, Events and Specials.

5. Relax. If anyone needs a break after prom season, it's you! Take some time for yourself so you can take on Prom 2019 and make it the best season yet!
