New York-based Hampton is the President of Mark Hampton, Inc., her late father’s renowned interior design house whose classical elegance allured clients from around the world including Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Estee Lauder. Today, under her direction, the firm takes on a wide range of domestic and international projects, including apartments and large residences, private airplanes and yachts. Her own New York City apartment was featured on the June 2002 cover of House Beautiful , and the cover of the December 1999 Architectural Digest featured a house she designed in Palm Beach, FL. Like that of her father, Hampton’s work is eclectic, traditional and timeless.
For the past six years, Architectural Digest has chosen Hampton as one of its ‘AD 100,’ the magazine’s top one hundred interior designers and architects. Additionally, House Beautiful has listed her among its annual ‘America’s Best 100 Designers’ list every year since 1999, saying: “Alexa Hampton’s aesthetic is both classic and timeless.” New York Magazine named her one of New York’s “100 Best Architects and Decorators” and The New York Times hailed her, along with five others in various design-related professions, as one of the members of a “New Guard,” and one of the “bright lights” of her generation. And, in 1999, she was named as one of the eight “Female Leads” in the design industry by Interiors magazine and one of the twelve “Fun, Fearless Females” by Cosmopolitan magazine.
Market Wednesday is held the first Wednesday of every non Gift & Home Furnishings Market month. The June Market Wednesday is scheduled for June 4 featuring celebrity designer Vicente Wolf. For more information, please call Antoinette Dunstan at 404.220.3012 or visit www.americasmart.com
