ATLANTA, July 2007—The cultivating popularity and momentum of the NY/LA Co-Op on floor 9 at the largest apparel market on the East Coast, AmericasMart®Atlanta, has fueled, yet again, the creation of a new co-op. NY/LA Co-Op North stems from the success and continued growth of the already established NY/LA Co-Op East and NY/LA Co-Op West which opened during the October Market. In less than nine months, the two new Co-Ops, North and West, have been established with strong lines customized to the accelerated contemporary industry, creating an unprecedented synergy at AmericasMart. North will be introduced to retailers during the August 18—20 apparel/accessories market.
People’s Liberation and William Rast, which officially opened during the June Market, has been selected as the anchor showroom of the North. New designers and showrooms that have never shown at AmericasMart will debut in North this August. The showrooms, which are encompassed within one large area, align with East and West and will be unveiled at the NY/LA Co-Op North grand opening celebration during market on Saturday, August 18 at 4 p.m.
“AmericasMart continues to strengthen its contemporary product center and is evolving into a national player in the Southeast,” says Mark Kanights, director of sales, People’s Liberation and William Rast. “Because of this, we have found it absolutely necessary to have a presence here as we grow our business.”
NY/LA Co-Op North, located in the northwest section of Floor 9 and will feature high-end contemporary names including:

“The look and feel of the co-op’s is that of a loft-like open area, which is comfortable for our buyers”, says Amy Janssen, executive director of Apparel, “Similarly to a specialty store, the lines within and surrounding the co-op’s are of like-classifications and price point—making the co-op areas a one-stop shop destination.”
“It is critical for us to continue merchandising the floor and all of the co-ops to align with retailer buying patterns, and Amy continues to be successful in doing this,” says Lawton Hall, senior vice president of Building 3. “By grouping these lines in a centralized manner, the floor makes a statement. The co-ops are the best example of how we continue improving and merchandising all of our product centers.”
