AREA RUG MANUFACTURERS RETURN TO AMERICASMART® ATLANTA AFTER ABSENCES

ATLANTA, November 2006—Testament to the importance of the Area Rug Center at AMERICASMART and to the buying power of the area rug and home furnishings retailers it draws, 10 of the area rug industry’s most renowned manufacturers and importers have returned to AMERICASMART. Each company left at different times and returned after varying lengths of absences.

Although Shaw Industries’ (AMERICASMART 1, floor 6, 6A2) return to AMERICASMART was several years ago, the company’s investment and commitment to the Center is now more apparent than ever and is highlighted by its presence through 2015 and a major expansion which virtually doubled the size of its previous showroom. Other firms having left AMERICASMART only to return over the years are: Karastan (3A1), Benjamin Rugs (5G2), Lotfy & Sons (3E9), Balta (3D7), Nargezian (5E10), Kane Carpet (6C3), Global Accents (5G5), Michael Aziz Oriental Rugs (6E10) and Market Temporaries exhibitor, Michaelean & Kohlberg (2-1416).

“After extensive research we determined that the pulse of the industry is in Atlanta and specifically its winter Market,” says Herb Frank, president, Kane Carpet. “We exhibited in Atlanta four years ago and left. It was a mistake. Atlanta has the key players we really want. We’re excited to be back.”

“Our industry has changed dramatically since we last showed in Atlanta,” continues Marty Banilevi, president of Lotfy. “Our business has increased to the point where our return to Atlanta was the next logical step for us to continue our expansion.”

Each company will be open for business during the January 2007 Atlanta International Area Rug Market featuring the National Oriental Rug Show, January 18—21, 2007.

“Although these companies left our market center over time, we’ve continued to maintain amicable relationships and are happy that they’ve again invested in AMERICASMART,” says Chas Sydney, senior vice president, floor coverings and new business development. “The incredible diversity of product mixes and extensive program lines will again be a welcome addition to the Center and we wholeheartedly welcome each exhibitor back.”
