ATLANTA, November 2006—Retailers will have yet another reason to celebrate this holiday season as they discover what the Atlanta Women’s & Children’s Apparel/Accessories Market®, February 1—4, 2007, has planned for the first Market of the year.

Contemporary fashion will take center stage this February with the grand opening of NY/LA Co-Op West on the 9th floor, featuring high-end contemporary product offerings and names like Saja, Black Halo, Mima Jewelry, Miguelina, James Jeas, Mint and Eberjey. Additionally, fashion savvy European and Canadian apparel and accessory lines will be introduced during Market.

As one of the nation’s premiere sources for unique fashion accessories—spanning more than five floors of temporary and permanent showroom space—AmericasMart is hosting a Product Preview Party showcasing the latest trends in today’s most fashion-forward jewelry and accessories. The variety of product—comprised of shoes, belts, handbags, hats and jewelry—will feature the industry’s richest resources of accessories.

“The momentum and energy of the new initiatives surrounding the February Market is an ideal way to jumpstart a successful 2007,” says Lawton Hall, senior vice president of leasing. “With the expansion in the high-end contemporary Co-Op area and the continued growth in our premium contemporary juried collections of PREMIERE, buyers will find that we are truly a Market of necessity.”

In addition to the contemporary growth, special occasion formalwear continues to prove its strength. For the first time, in February, AmericasMart will feature Pageant in the special occasion category. The Friday evening fashion show, Feb. 2, will include a special segment showcasing pageant trends.

Continuing the spotlight on Atlanta, AmericasMart kicks off the February Market with an exclusive IMAX and Martini party on Thursday evening, Feb. 1, at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History. Guests will sip martinis in the midst of dinosaur displays and enjoy New Orleans style food, live R & B music and a private viewing of the museum’s IMAX movie “Hurricane on the Bayou.” The Mardi Gras themed soirĂ©e celebrates the revival of the apparel retail community in the Gulf Region affected by Hurricane Katrina. The Fernbank Museum—one of the country’s premiere museums of natural history—opens the door to a world of dinosaurs, artifacts and wildlife, leading visitors through an exploration of the earth’s history, physical universe, the environment and human culture.

The offerings are further enhanced by an expansive collection of temporary product, which occupies more than 500 exhibit booths during each Market.
