AMERICASMART® ALPHA CELEBRATED GRAND OPENING, SHOWCASED ALMOST 100 NEW LINES

ATLANTA, October 2006—Doors closed, but the energy remained high Tuesday afternoon as the October edition of AMERICASMART ALPHA® came to an end. The cutting-edge show featuring influential and innovative collections in active lifestyle, board sports, casual lifestyle, high-end designer and contemporary streetwear, showcased nearly 100 new lines and celebrated the grand opening of its new permanent home on floor 12 of AMERICASMART 3.

Order writing was brisk starting Sunday morning, and that evening AMERICASMART celebrated the new face of ALPHA with a grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting where retailers and exhibitors were invited to relax, network and enjoy complimentary food, beverages and live entertainment. Companies now exhibiting on the new floor include Puma, Baby Phat, Rocawear, Akademics, Encye, Ecko, Chaps and Timberland.

Throughout Market, retailers were exposed to new looks and lines as they shopped the ALPHA floors. Nautica, Girbaud, Miskeen, Savage Art, Antik, Palis, Parish, American Chang, Joesph Abboud and Yanuk are a few of the names that stopped traffic during the show. Furthermore, the growing facilities dedicated to high-end contemporary was more open and accessible to buyers, giving them increased visibility of several booths at one time. The product mix included high-end denim, sportswear, streetwear, shoes, specialized t-shirts, hats and accessories.

Additionally, Michael Knight of Bravo’s Project Runway, was onsite with Dap Rugget, a well-known local line and one of his Atlanta-based business partners. Following his appearance at ALPHA, AMERICASMART and Dap Rugget co-hosted “Cool It Now,” an exclusive fashion exhibition featuring designs by Dap Rugget, Michael Knight, Mae and Meezan.

AMERICASMART ALPHA features both high-end contemporary apparel and accessories. Established in 2004, it is held four times a year in AMERICASMART 3 and draws more than 1,500 attendees and exhibitors each market.
