2006 Formalwear DIVAs Revealed During October Awards Ceremony

ATLANTA, October 2006—Last week AMERICASMART-ATLANTA honored special occasion and formalwear designers and retailers during an intimate award ceremony held on the first day of the October Atlanta Women’s & Children’s Market®. Nominees, winners and AMERICASMART officers and staff gathered at the Capital City Club Downtown Thursday evening, Oct. 19, to mingle with peers and celebrate 2006 accomplishments.

The DIVA awards ceremony which was hosted by Kaye Davis, executive director of fashion and apparel tradeshows for AMERICASMART, spotlighted distinguished designers and retailers in the following categories: bridal, prom, pageantry, special occasion and the most recent designer category, Quinceañera. Additionally in the retailer category, AMERICASMART honored rising stars that have made a quick impression on others within the industry. Following cocktails and dinner on the second floor of the club, guests moved upstairs for dessert and the announcement of winners.

The DIVA nominees were strategically selected by an independent panel of prominent specialty retailers and industry experts making up the 2006 DIVA Nomination Committee and were announced during the August Atlanta Women’s and Children’s Apparel Market. The 2006 DIVA winners were chosen by their peers consisting of retailers, exhibitors and designers.
