AmericasMart Experiences Strong, Energetic October Apparel Market, Record Numbers

ATLANTA, October 2007— On the heels of a powerful August Atlanta Apparel Market, the October Market experienced unprecedented energy and growth in both buyer and exhibitor numbers. Retailers shopped 13 floors of product for five straight days with extended buying opportunities provided by AmericasMart®.

The October Market featured a record number of exhibitors in almost every product center, providing retailers with more resources than ever before. A1pha, Premiere and the most recently added high-end contemporary category—NY/LA Co-Ops—were completely sold out and 100 percent leased. Due to this growth, in particular, AmericasMart attracted more contemporary buyers—a reflection of the market’s direction.

Additionally, since the permanent showrooms are open Monday — Friday, more retailers started their buying early. Although the show didn’t officially open until Saturday, there was a significant jump in buyer registration on Friday—a direct result of the permanent showrooms aggressively opening their doors and securing buyer appointments before the temporaries opened. Friday’s momentum helped build Saturday’s traffic, which was one of the biggest registration days in the market’s history.

AmericasMart also noted an increase in buyers extending their stay through Tuesday—the last day of Market. The additional days gave retailers the opportunity to shop new areas and expanded product centers. They were also able to extend their buying hours through “Shop Late Til Eight” on Sunday evening, when showrooms and temporaries stay open until 8 p.m.

While in Atlanta, retailers were treated to a private tour and party at one of the city’s newest and most renowned facilities—The World of Coca-Cola. The Monday night

event attracted 600 retailers and exhibitors, who have come to appreciate and expect the overall market experience garnered through these off-site events and onsite buying opportunities in Atlanta.
The next market takes place January 26—29, 2008.

The Atlanta Apparel market is held five times a year (August does not include a1pha), and spans 13 floors with 550 permanent showrooms and 1,000 temporary booths showcasing more than 8,000 apparel lines. There are more than more than 50 categories of merchandise represented throughout the building.
