ATLANTA, October 2007—AmericasMart Atlanta’s home category—spanning more than 25 floors of furniture, home furnishings and area rug product presented in almost two million square feet of space—is set for continued growth as Building Two West Wing’s 2008 debut opens more than 250,000 additional square feet in Building One for new furniture showrooms.
The category expansion accelerates a growth curve that has produced a full home furnishings product mix housed throughout AmericasMart Building One, on Home floors in Building Two, and in 10 complementary temporary categories. Furniture and home furnishings showrooms are slated for location in Building One space previously occupied by the HIGH DESIGN home furnishings collection on floor 10 and The Gardens on floors 14 and 15.
At full occupancy—which will follow the Building Two West Wing opening—AmericasMart One will house 21 contiguous showroom floors of home furnishings product, including furniture in traditional, contemporary and high-design styling and the nation’s largest single collection of area rugs.
The Home product mix growth comes in tandem with the arrival of Building Two West Wing—a landmark 1.5 million-square-foot expansion housing trade show exhibit halls and permanent showrooms in a spectacular environment fusing space, sight and sound.
The expansion marks AmericasMart Atlanta’s continuing growth as the nation’s preferred home, gift and apparel marketplace which, at Building Two West Wing’s completion, will enclose more than 7.7 million square feet of space housing the world’s largest single product collection.
Building Two West Wing redefines the conventional trade mart environment with design features, technologies and structural advances previously unseen. Ceiling heights exceeding 18 feet, wide-span floor plans maximizing exhibit hall visibility, advanced vertical transportation systems and multi-sensory interactive features in two AmericasMart signature categories—The Gardens and Gourmet—combine to create a facility unmatched in imagination and innovation.
The John Portman & Associates-designed structure, sited adjacent to and fully integrated with AmericasMart Two, spans more than 12 floors in a configuration that integrates exhibit halls and permanent showrooms for maximum ease of access. Building Two West Wing floors one through four offer temporary exhibit halls accommodating AmericasMart’s prestigious HIGH DESIGN collection, an expanded gourmet products collection, an expanded garden products collection, plus new categories in development for 2009 introduction. The relocation of existing collections paves the way for growth in numerous existing temporary categories.
Floor six will house new and expanded General Gift showrooms in extension of AmericasMart Two’s six-floor General Gift category.
Floor seven is the new home for the Gourmet Gallery/Gift & Resort, with floor eight housing Gourmet product, plus housewares, in a casually elegant environment reminiscent of an outdoor marketplace/streetscape. Floor eight Gourmet and housewares showroom spaces will surround a new state-of-the-art, real-time demonstration kitchen for broadcast-television-quality culinary demonstrations and events.
Floors nine and 10 will become the new home to AmericasMart’s Living. Outdoor/Indoor in a setting that captures the spirit of The Gardens through dramatic new spaces employing a two-story, fiber-optic waterfall. The water feature will anchor and unify the floors to create a multi-sensory product presentation showcased through lighting and technological advancements.
Building Two West Wing is on schedule for 2008 occupancy and a January 2009 Market opening.
