Position Title: Public / Media Relations Intern

Paid/Credit: Paid internship - $10/hr (40 hrs per week)

Position Description: (List duties, responsibilities, special projects, etc.)
Assist Executive Director of Marketing in all facets of media/public relations for apparel, gift/home furnishings, LIGHTFAIR and Convention Services. Will research media contacts and develop, update and maintain media databases using online research module. Will review publications for coverage, develop hit books, draft press releases and assist with publication distribution for major Markets. Will assist with photography needs, events and educating/touring media.

Qualifications/Requirements: (i.e., education, technical skills)
Candidate should be an undergraduate (declared or undeclared) or graduate student with a degree in Communications or Public Relations OR pursuing a Marketing major with a focus in Public Relations. Experience in Excel/building media lists and researching media contacts is desirable. Must be able to draft a press release and track media correspondence. Should be comfortable with calling/speaking with the media when necessary.
