Executive Management

Jeffrey L. Portman has served as President and Chief Operating Officer of AMC Inc. since February 2001, previously serving as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing since the company’s formation. Mr. Portman has been with the company and its predecessor since June 1986, and during this time, also served as General Manager of the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center .

Henry G. Almquist, Jr. has served as Executive Vice President of AMC, Inc. since February 2001, previously serving as Senior Vice President of Finance and Accounting/Chief Financial Officer of the company since January 1997. Prior to joining AMC, Inc., Mr. Almquist served as Vice President of American Resurgens Management Corporation from September 1995 to January 1997. Prior thereto, Mr. Almquist was Vice President of Citicorp Real Estate, Inc. for more than five years.

Virginia S. Gorday has served as Senior Vice President Operations of AMC, Inc. since 1995. Ms. Gorday joined the Portman Companies in 1986 as Vice President of Property Management and was responsible for Operations of the Peachtree Center Office Complex. Prior to joining the Portman Companies, Ms. Gorday worked in a similar Property Management function for C & S Bank in Atlanta managing their large office building portfolio.

Jo Ann Miller-Marshall has served as Senior Vice President of the Trade Show division of AMC Inc. since 2001. Prior to 2001, Ms. Miller-Marshall was the Vice President of the Trade Show Division overseeing eight of AmericasMart®’s Gift & Home Furnishings Trade Shows in Atlanta and Orlando . Prior to joining AMC Inc. in February 1992, Ms. Miller-Marshall was employed by Semco Productions for seven years where she managed the American Marine Trades Expo and the Atlanta Boat Show.

Terence A. Morris has served as Senior Vice President of Leasing, AmericasMart Building 2 of AMC Inc. since 2003. Mr. Morris has held a series of sales and leasing positions with AMC, Inc., including responsibility for overseeing the company’s international relations before assuming his current management post. Prior to joining AMC Inc. in 1995, Mr. Morris worked in retail management with the California Marketing Association, a manufacturer rep company.

Neal G. Patton has served as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary to AMC, Inc. and to its predecessor, Atlanta Market Center Management Company, Inc., since 1994. Mr. Patton joined the Portman Companies in 1986 as Assistant General Counsel, in which capacity he helped manage the legal affairs of the companies’ architectural, real estate development, property management, and trade mart businesses. Prior to joining the Portman Companies, Mr. Patton was a principal in the Atlanta , Georgia law firm of Martin, Cavan & Andersen, P.C.

Dave Savula has served as Senior Vice President of AmericasMart Building 1 of AMC Inc. since 2003. In his nine years in the industry, Mr. Savula has worked in several areas of AMC, Inc. management, including the Furniture segment, Temporary Trade Shows, Area Rugs, and Home Accents and Fine Linens. Mr. Savula has been instrumental in New Business Development, including the Fashion Accessories and Fine Jewelry and Apparel categories. Mr. Savula holds a business degree from Georgia State University in Atlanta .

Chas Sydney has served as Senior Vice President of New Business Development of AMC, Inc. since October 2003 in addition to his long-standing role of Senior Vice President of Floor Coverings in the area rug industry. Mr. Sydney also served as Director of Trade Shows and vice president of area rug leasing prior to his appointment as Senior Vice President. Prior to joining AMC, Inc. in 1980, Mr. Sydney taught college preparatory English, and served as the Assistant Coach of football and basketball programs at Marist School in Atlanta . He also served as the Director of Sales & Marketing for Auction America and as the Chief Executive Officer of World of Wheels, Inc.

Mike Turnbull is senior vice president of marketing for AMC, Inc., the world’s largest trade mart/trade show organization. He directs the design and execution of marketing programs supporting AMC’s gift, home furnishings and apparel wholesale marketplace operations. His responsibilities also include corporate communications programs for AMC business interests in the U.S. and abroad. Mike’s principal charge is the management of brand equity and growth for AmericasMart®-ATLANTA, AMC’s flagship business unit and the number-one gift and home furnishings wholesale marketplace in the U.S. Mike joined AMC’s management team in 1994 following a 14-year career at Ketchum Communications Worldwide, then the world’s largest privately owned marketing firm. While at Ketchum, he won more than 30 awards for marketing program excellence, including the coveted PRSA Silver Anvil. At his appointment as Associate Director of the Ketchum Atlanta office, Mike was the youngest profit center manager in the agency’s history. He received the 1993 George Ketchum Medal, the highest honor bestowed on any Ketchum Communications employee from among 1,500 worldwide. Mike holds two degrees from the University of Georgia Grady College of Communication, including the A.B.J. in Journalism (1977) and an M.A. in advertising (1978).

Kevin Albrechtson has served as Chief Quality Officer of AMC Inc. since 2003. Mr. Albrechtson is responsible for coordinating all company Performance Excellence activities into a comprehensive and consistent program using the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Criteria. He has over 10 years of leadership experience as a quality professional in the healthcare and hospitality sectors. Prior to joining AMC, Mr. Albrechtson was a Director of Quality with the award-winning Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company.
